How You Can Help the Harvest This Spring?
There are lots of ways to help the Harvest this Spring: leadership roles, sharing finds from your spring cleaning, donating an experience, hunting for Legos, volunteering at Culver’s, and supporting the local food pantry. Read on for details!
Leadership Positions:
Harvest has vacancies in several leadership positions. If your talent is organization or recruiting volunteers, please prayerfully consider these opportunities:
Taco Booth Coordinator – Third Friday Lincoln
Breakfast Burrito Coordinator – Harvest Day
Cinnamon Roll Preorders Coordinator– Sept./Oct.
Cinnamon Roll Coordinator – Harvest Day
Check In Team Leader – week before Harvest Day
Potato Booth Coordinator – Harvest Day
Spring Cleaning:
Items collecting dust in your home may just be the very thing someone needs to complete a Harvest project. (Yarn, canning jars, paints, stains, fabric, wood scraps, etc.) Let us know if you have materials for donations. And creators, let us know what you are on the lookout for to complete your projects.
Are you an “Experience” enthusiast?
Do you have a passion or hobby that you could build an experience around to be sold or auctioned at Harvest? A talent for baking, wood working, painting, outdoor activity, etc? Your imagination is your guide on this one! Consider putting together an experience for donation this year – examples from 2024 included a tractor ride, dance lessons and a bread making tutorial.
Garage sale season is here:
Thrifters, please be on the lookout for good deals on Legos. The Harvest’s first Lego Experience was a success last year. More of those colorful bricks are needed to bring this hands-on event back to the 2025 Harvest of Talents.
Culver’s Nights for GAP
If you are looking for a service project that won’t take much time, but big rewards, look no further! GAP is in need of volunteers to serve on Culver’s nights. (April 8, May 12 and June 10 from 5-8 p.m.) A portion of the food purchased that evening helps cover the cost of the GAP food packing event on Harvest Day. Shifts are 90 minutes and it’s fun! Contact Jessica Wichmann – 217/671-7215.
Fight Hunger Locally:
The Harvest Team is committed to feeding hungry people. A free-will collection for the Logan County Food Pantry is taken at each HOT meeting to ensure local people are being fed as well. We encourage everyone to get involved with local hunger relief efforts.
