IDES Road Trip

Lincoln Christian Church’s GAP food packing team organized a road trip to the International Disaster Emergency Service (IDES) facility in Indiana recently. The day was spent with staff, learning about the different ministries and, of course, packing food!

Lincoln travelers rest after assembling six boxes of GAP meals during a tour of the IDES facility in Indiana.

Takeaways from our trip:

🔸️GAP meals are for short-term disaster relief while HOT funds go to long-term hunger relief.

🔸️GAP meals cost 25-cents to make. That includes supplies, transport to/from packing events, transport to and distribution at disaster sites.

🔸️We assembled 1,728 meals during the visit!

🔸️IDES has a stateside disaster relief effort too.

🔸️IDES is growing! Land has been cleared to build a larger warehouse and offices.

🔸️IDES partners with local Christian churches and missionaries directly who know the people and the area. No funds or resources go to government entities.

🔸️All GAP funds raised by Lincoln Christian Church are used to cover the cost of food packing supplies. All HOT funds raised by Lincoln Christian Church go to feed the hungry in Jesus’ name.

LCC partners with the ministry of IDES because of confidence in their stewardship of the money, resources, time and energies to be a "Help & Hope" in Jesus' name all over the world.

How can you help?

1. Pray! There will always be disasters. Pray for God to intervene, provide and use all christians to do His work.

2. Donate to LCC for the HOT ministry and for GAP supplies. Just write HOT or GAP in the memo line.

3. Sign up to participate in the GAP food packing event at the 42nd Harvest of Talents on Oct. 25.

4. Teaser! Keep an eye out for some special items at Harvest that involve soil from IDES' expansion project.
